Diabetes Mellitus Type 2

1. The prevalence of DM T2 (read : Diabetes Mellitus Type 2) is 4-5% of the world population. 20-30 years ago the prevalence of this disease is seen somewhere in North America and the Europe. But in years to come, the prevalence of this disease will be in India, Brazil, South East Asia, places where there are growth of middle class people. This is due to the 'Coca-Colanization' of the people. LIKE.

Bila lecturer cakap the word coca-colanization, ramai yang tergelak tersenyum.

Betul lah kan apabila kita melihat di Malaysia sendiri ramai yang memilih makanan segera, atau makanan di luar (restoran, kedai mamak, warung). Coca-cola represents segala makanan/minuman segera yang ada di luar sana. And the people of Malaysia seemed to have been mentally colonized to buy this type of food. Tetapi faktor middle class juga menyumbang kerana walaupun mempunyai wang, tetapi masih tidak cukup banyak untuk membeli makanan yang betul-betul sihat. Organic food mahal kot. And bila refer to middle class people, it mostly refers to people with 8 to 5 job. Jadi kebanyakan rakyat Malaysia menggunakan alasan tak cukup masa untuk memasak sebagai escapism untuk membeli makanan luar.

Tapi nak tahu satu lagi benda? Saya ingatkan the word coca-colanization is a word that my lecturer made up, tapi ada dalam Wiki-wiki tu.

Cocacolonization (alternatively coca-colonization) is a term that refers to globalization or cultural colonization. It is a portmanteau of the name of the multinational soft drink makerCoca-Cola and the word colonization.

The term is used to imply either:

the importation of Western (particularly American) goods or

an invasion by Western and especially American cultural values that threatens the local culture.

While it is possible to use the term benignly, it has been used pejoratively to liken globalization to Westernization or Americanization.

The term has been used at least since 1949; one of the first documented uses is in the warnings in French communist press of that era. It gained high visibility in the European Americanization debate with the 1994 publication of Reinhold Wagnleitner's book, Coca-Colonization and the Cold War: The Cultural Mission of the United States in Austria After the Second World War. The expression also became a catch phrase of the anti-globalization movement.

The expression is also used in medical literature, to describe the lifestyle changes and the associated increase of incidence of characteristic chronic diseases, e.g. type 2 diabetes.

=)

The term has been used at least since 1949. erk.

Kantoi general knowledge tak banyak.

Anak sekecil Fatih pun tahu memboycott Coca-Cola.

PENGAJARAN :

1. Coca-cola barangan boycott.

2. Coca-cola dan barangan sejenis dengannya boleh menjadi salah satu sebab kepada berlakunya DM T2.
