Compass setting
Saya rasa orang yang mengikuti tarbiyyah sure2 selalu dengar perkataan compass setting session dan perkataan sewaktu dengannya. Di mana dengan adanya mind setting session ni kita akan dapat the big picture of what we're going to listen to dan ke mana hala tuju perkara yang bakal kita dengari.
Setiap amalan adalah berdasarkan niat
Same thing as mendahulukan sesuatu dengan niat. (Refer Hadis 1 daripada hadis 40 kumpulan imam nawawi) Perkara yang sama kita buat akan ada penghasilan yang berbeza jika niat kita berbeza. Rasanya berpuluh-puluh kali kita dah dengar quote yang sangat best ni "Small things can become big things if your intention is big"(atau sewaktu dengannya, main hentam je ni).
Compass setting in studying medicine
Walaupun begitu only few days ago did i realize yang saya kuraaang sangat ada mind setting when learning medicine. Not saying that saya tak set niat apabila belajar. Dan bukan juga nak kata saya tidak set niat kenapa nak jadi doktor.
No.
Ia lebih kepada saya tiada mind setting apabila belajar suatu disease baru atau apa-apa syndrome baru. That is why studying medicine at times become sangat-sangat 'dry' or kering, at least for me. Everyday belajar disease baru, symptom baru, syndrome baru without learning kenapa nak kena tahu pasal disease ni. It all started when on one fine day my russian paeds teacher had to attend a conference. So the women who replaced the class was an indian teacher. She came to russia accompanying her husband who had to serve as indian ambassador to russia. For one thing, her english was very fluent. And the other thing is that she made us think throughout the whole lesson.
Like really think. Sampai penat semua orang pun takmo jawab dah.
Not one time did she asked us to tell her the signs and symptoms and treatment and so on. Because she said that we have all the books and technologies ( ipod, ipad, ipotpet, etc). and we can find all those things ourselves. She however taught us how to 'look' at a disease and what should we understand about the disease. It makes it more clearer on why we should know about something - what to know and what not to know. For example meningococcal vs poliomyelitis. Every one knows that a meningococcal infection for example meningococcemia form is an acute condition that can cause death in a short period of time while poliomyelitis is a condition that can lead to invalidity (handicap). The sound of death should scare people more but why should we care more on polio than meningococcal until vaccines are created for polio and not for meningococcal. It's because when one gets meningococcal, if we manage them correctly then alhamdulillah the patient survives. And if not, death occurs. But in polio, the patient survives as a handicap and this affect the population's number of handicapped people and directly affects human resources of a country. Yelah, kurang human resource, kurang hasil pengeluaran negara.
So u see how that changes our view towards a certain disease? Those are things we can't get from a book. Those are the things that only experience can tell. And ironically that is what i usually do not get from my russian teachers. Majorly due to the language barrier. Bukan nak kata mereka tak bagus. They really deliver when they speak in russian. Also focus on the word 'usually', because not all teachers are like that. But by having said that, i must add that the number of very good teachers is only a handful. I know that maybe some of you readers are medical students not studying in russia are used to the situation above. Well this is just one of the example or maybe factors that affects our proficiency in the knowledge of medicine. Sad, i know.
Ia bermula dengan diri kita sendiri
Well as usual blaming on others takkan menyelesaikan masalah. What i want to stress is that be it dalam tarbiyah ke, dalam belajar medicine ke, baca berita ke, the mind setting has to be clear. Then only you are able to digest whatever you need to digest and you'll tend to remember and understand it better. And plus, you'll be able to read between the lines. Dan lebih lagi apabila kita membaca dengan mata 'Ilahi'. In a much more familiar word > kaca mata Islam.
if you can't get it from the teacher/murabbia/ah, go find it yourself.
The journey towards understanding begins with you.
Cara interaksi dengan Quran
Haha, masa nak recheck post ni sebelum dipublish tetiba terdetik nak add jugak benda ni. Dalam interaksi dengan Quran kita belajar di mana interaksi dengan quran tak sepatutnya kering. kita kena feel. macam mana nak feel? kena rasa macam Quran tu untuk kita and so on. So nampak tak, itu pun mind setting. Bila kita ada mind setting yang betul bila baca Quran then only we can 'read between the lines' (read: tadabbur). Betul tak? Betul tak?
Tambahan lagi kah kah..
Semasa kelas ganti tu jugak, the indian teacher banyak suruh kitorang think and discuss, but because being me, of course i did not manage to read everything the day before, and then resulted in me failing to discuss/give opinions on certain topics. which rasanya sangatlah depressing (ok, exaggerated much, rasa tak best je sebenarnya.. takdelah depressing) . so i really learned that day that in order to think, one must first read! Allah dalam Quran banyak kali suruh kita berfikir tapi sebelum tu dalam wahyu pertamanya lagi Allah suruh Iqra! wah maha bijak tak Allah? super awesome susunanNya!
Jatuh cinta dengan Allah buat sejuta lemon kalinya!
sekian
