Salam wrt.
Bismillah.
LDR = Long Distance Relationship
Alhamdulillah Mr.Husband has started his journey in becoming an Emergency Physician in December 2017. It has been 8 months since he temporarily moved to a university hospital in Kelantan. His programme is a closed system one, so he has to be in campus for the whole 4 years programme.
Me and the kids stays here in Pahang as I work here. Transferring is not an option / quite an impossible option , unless me myself enter postgraduate training too.
Is it hard being in LDR? Of course.
Being married to a doctor, I am well aware of the possibility of this happening. Because like it or not, one of the road to becoming a specialist is entering postgraduate programme which requires one to study in a university hospital. This can actually be avoided if you take papers (ie MRCP / MRCPCH and the likes, instead). However, not all specialities accept external papers. Some requires you to actually go through a postgraduate training. For example, emergency medicine.
So having this mindset of having to go through this process eventually, is really helpful. Because at least you tak terkejut sangat or tak meroyan lebih-lebih when it is finally happening. Yang you tak tahu is it going to be soon or lambat lagi.
So my adik-adik in the medical fraternity, or having spouses in medical fraternity, have the right mindset before it happens okay?
